The Product Development Network

. . . . bringing ideas into reality.

Idea Review

==>If, like most people, you have been waiting to do so something about your idea and have not been sure what to do, congratulations for taking this step.  There is always a risk that someone else will get a similar idea to market before you. However, rest assured that this happens infrequently and that you are best proceeding cautiously.  Do your homework and see if there is something similar (or exactly the same) already on the market and if it sells or not.  Is there room for another one?  Is yours significantly better?  Is there a need?  Remember, although a patent can be quite valuable, it doesn't automatically spell success.  So again, proceed with caution.

Play_penDo you have any unanswered questions about The Product Development Network that have not yet been answered in our write up?  I'll be very happy to review them with you, either on the phone, in person, or in an email.  Although we have dozens of talented people at our disposal that can help you in a wide variety of ways, we are a small company and do not invest in our clients products and work solely on a fee for service basis.

Since we share a large amount of information and endeavor to empower a new client during the idea review, we must charge a fee for our time and expertise.  Many times, however, enough information is passed on during a review, a follow up or additional consulting time with us is not needed.

At time of submission, the Inventor should make every effort to include the following:

  1. Product nameHome_depot_truck_2
  2. Product description
  3. Target ages and purpose/value
  4. All features believed to be unique  or points of differentiation
  5. Pending Patents or Copyrights
  6. Illustrations, Prototypes, or other visuals
  7. A list of concerns regarding his/her invention

Please fill out our Policy and Agreement form and include it with your submission whether or not we meet in person or if you mail your idea to us (please include return postage).  If we are to have a telephone review, please mail this form along with $150 prior to our review.  If you have SKYPE and a web cam, we can conduct the review using it.

The Product Development Network will respond to all submissions within ten business days with our opinion of your idea, covering subjects such as market appropriateness, manufacturability, uniqueness, etc., and make recommendations as to further product development needs.

The consult may be held in person if we can meet locally, may be held over the phone, or conducted via email.  The fee is $150.00, due at the start of the meeting or upon submission.

The Product Development Network will make best efforts to maintain inventor confidentiality and right to any submitted concepts notwithstanding information which:
  1. was at the time of disclosure to The Product Development Network, or became thereafter through no fault of The Product Development Network part of the public domain.
  2. was already in the possession of The Product Development Network prior to it being supplied or disclosed by the inventor.
  3. was subsequently received by The Product Development Network from a third party who was under no obligation of confidentiality to the inventor.
  4. is required by law to be disclosed or protected by the inventor.
